	Mostly on a whim, initally, I decided to write up some Oz 
characters in the GURPS system.  This started me thinking about the 
role-playing potential of the setting (heavy on problem-solving and 
character interaction, of course).  So: I present, below, rough stats on 
some major Oz figures.  Would people be interested in a full-fledged Oz 
sourcebook?  If so, let me know.

	Note: These are rough drafts, and not intended to be definitive.  
Magical abilities and items (as well as the costs of Allies) have not been 
included.  And I know the new Advantages have goofy names, but I haven't 
been able to think of anything better yet.  (They haven't been playtested, 
either, so don't use them without due consideration.)

New advantages:

UNQUENCHABLE ESSENCE (Variable)

     A character with this advantage is an animate version of
something that is ordinarily inanimate, and cannot be killed.
However, the material is damaged in the same way as a normal
version of that material, and the character is inconvenienced
by "injuries" in the same way as a person.  (For example, the
Scarecrow wasn't killed when the jackdaws blew away all his
straw; he was inconvenienced, though!) Reducing the character
to 0 hit points renders him helpless, but not unconscious or
dead.
     A drawback to this avantage is that the character must
be repaired, rather than healing.  A significant part of the
original material must be present; treat repairs as repairing
a piece of equipment, under the appropriate skill (Blacksmith
for a tin being, Woodworking for one of wood, etc.).  If the
character is chopped into very small bits (reduced to -10xHT)
he is considered "dead" but could still be repaired if enough
of the material could be reassembled.
     This advantage comes in four levels:
     75 pts: The character is made of a fragile and easily
broken material, such as the china people from _Wizard_.
Crushing attacks get a +2 to damage!
     90 pts: The character is made of a material which is
hard and can be damaged, but is not especially vulnerable.
Examples include Jack Pumpkinhead's body and the Saw-Horse.
No bonuses or penalties.
     100 pts: The character is made of a soft, pliable
material, such as the Scarecrow.  -3 to damage for crushing
attacks, but +1 to impaling.
     125 pts: The character is made of a hard, rigid
material, such as the Tin Woodsman or Tin Soldier.  5 DR
against all attacks.

PAINLESS (15 points)
     The character feels no pain from any damage.  They are
never at a shock penalty from wounds in combat, and cannot be
tortured through pain.  No Will roll is required to resist
pain.  (This more extreme version of High Pain Threshold is
recommended only for characters with Unquenchable Essence,
who can take that sort of punishment.)
