Subject: Armies and PCs - Heroism

PCs are, of course, supposed to be heroic. This is the part I'm
stumped on. I have a "mission bonus" of 1-100 silver pence for
special missions (sneaking behind enemy lines, sabotage, spying, etc)
that can be handy as adventures, and I also give reputation bonuses
and money awards for bravery (single-handedly turning the tide of
battle in a melee, for example). Usually these consist of a small
gold medal worth about 1 gold coin plus 1-100 silver pence, and a
small reputation around the nearby countryside. Anybody got any good
ideas for this?
