Betel is traditionally chewed, not smoked.  A piece of the
nut from the palm, _Areca catechu_,, is mixed with some lime
(the chemical, not the citrus), and wrapped in a leaf of
_Piper betal_.  The leaf needs to be fresh to be good.
Try an Indian grocery store.  The good ones have spices and
maybe a little honey mixed inside.  

Swallow a little of the juice if you have worms. . . .

I think that the arecoline alkaloids are the stimulating part,
but the leaf gives the euphoriant part.  Terpenes, I recall.

Maybe best to do it outdoors until you get the hang of it.  :)
