group of individuals and businessmen have put together a billboard
around the message of legalizing marijuana. A gif of it is available at
http://www.cica.indiana.edu/hyplan/damico/politics/legalize.gif

The story behind the billboard is as follows: A personal friend of mine
conceived of the board a couple of years ago, but didn't act on it. Last
year I ran for state legislature, and put up a some billboards as part of
my advertising. I talked with my friend about the cost of the boards
during the fall, and he realised that putting one up was do-able. At
that point he started trying to figure out how to raise the ~ $800
needed to put the board up. He talked with some libertarian businessmen,
who agreed to put jars in their establishments for employee donations
for the board. The businessmen agreed to match their employee's
contributions. It took a little less than a month to raise the money.
The board is scheduled to go up today (if the rain stops). This coming
weekend brings a large number of people into our town for "The World's
Greatest College Weekend", so this is a very good time to have the board
up. It's location is on the main road leading out of town, so most of
this weekends visitors will see it. In two weeks the University is
having graduation ceremonies, so a lot more people will see it then. The
board will be coming down in 4 weeks, unless we raise a bit more money.
We plan on putting it up again in the fall for a more extended period.
To that end we purchased 5 copies of the paper for the board (1 copy
would have cost $150, 2 copies would have been $250, 3 - $300, 5 - $350).

If you like the board and want to help call the number on it. There
should be an answering machine on it later today, and you'll get info on
how to get more info, and also how to make a contribution.

More actions like this are needed. It should be possible to do this
anywhere, so go for it!
