From: [pelovt z d] at [axp3.acf.nyu.edu] Newsgroups: rec.music.gdead Subject: The Drug Policy Foundation Date: 27 Feb 94 13:45:57 EST A group called THE DRUG POLICY FOUNDATION took a full page ad on the back of the "Week in Review" section of the NY Times today. After pointing out many of the arguments that have been on the net already (don't worry, I won't repeat them) they state their purpose as The Drug Policy Foundation is a non-profit organization that promotes open debate on drug policy and provides information on alternatives. Though some of its members support legalization, the Foundation takes no position on that issue. The focus of the Foundation's work - in conferences, publications and television productions - is public education. With your financial support, the Foundation can expand its public education campaign. This is the first I'd heard of the group. They list their board of directors which includes many college presidents, chiefs of police, public health officials, lawyers, and professors (including Carl Sagan). Remember the windowpane, down in Laguna that time? God, I knew then, I knew...' They had a look. 'Uh-huh, me too. That you were never going to die. Ha! No wonder the State panicked. How are they supposed to control a population that knows it'll never die?' " Thomas Pynchon
