Knox (800-821-5216): * hardplate 55-60 HRC, but includes recessed ball bearings embedding in holes drilled into the hardplate before heat treating (the ball bearings stop drill bits by spinning) * drill deflector to protect the locking bolts * the thief drills a hole in the safe side and tries to punch the locking bolts to force them open * lifetime warranty covers any attack that causes damage - Amsec (800-423-1881): * Amsec person didn't have specific info on the hardplate * he said it is identical to hardplate in another safe model and that one has 60 HRC (thickness unknown) * UL listing is a Residential Security Container rating, not a commercial TL rating * rep couldn't explain the difference * Amsec makes and sells lots of different safes * models with TL15, TL30, TRTL30 ratings available * fire ratings up to 2 hr. at 1850 F with interior temp below 350 F * warranty for 1 year only, covers only defects, not burglary damage -Julius
