The temporary drill site is 904 Tierra Del Sol Rd., Boulevard Ca. A map and directions can be found on page two of this newsletter. (Note: for the electronic version of the newsletter, only directions are supplied.) It's quite a hike (up to 1.5 hours), so be sure and allow plenty of time for travel. Car-pooling is encouraged. (Many thanks to Bob and Jeanette for donating the use of their home.) Instructions for Drill (READ CAREFULLY) You may bring your parade rifle, even if you have not completed your firearms safety class. However, you must NOT bring any ammunition. Also, leave your bolt (or firing assembly) at home. Do NOT bring a fully assembled rifle. Be sure to transport your rifle in a LOCKED CONTAINER. The trunk of your car is NOT sufficient -- if you do not have a LOCKED CONTAINER, then leave your rifle at home. Bring a broomstick instead. Firearms safety and basic organization will be the primary concerns. You should also bring: a hat of some sorts, sun block, boots, fluids, and a bag lunch. You will be asked to sign a disclaimer of liability when you arrive. (This is a requirement of the hosts' homeowner's insurance.) New Offices At our last meeting, Steve Stubberud was elected our new secretary, replacing Rod Van Orden. Rod has been re-assigned to the Executive Operations Committee. Glenn Arrant has volunteered to be the San Diego Militia Chaplain. He is available for consultation on a continuous basis. His phone number will be announced soon. Next Meeting Our next drill will be Saturday, July 30. After that, our drills will be on the third Saturday of every month. Please mark your calendars. The San Diego Militia is in no way part of this effort, and actively discourages participation in the scheme. Enclosed is the NRA statement on Thompson: July 14, 1994 "Armed March" Statement Tanya K. Metaksa Executive Director, NRA-ILA The National Rifle Association represents law-abiding Americans committed to the preservation of the inalienable rights guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States, in particular the right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms. The NRA joins with other lawfully constituted pro-Second Amendment organizations to condemn the outrageous scheme to encourage armed individuals to gather in Washington, D.C., in September 1994. An armed demonstration in Washington would do a great disservice to the interests of law-abiding men and women throughout the United States who value their dignity, their integrity and their constitutional rights. The NRA is in no way associated with this effort. Furthermore, we pledge that we will convey to our members and the general public of our rejection of this preposterous scheme. We will continue the struggle to safeguard our right to keep and bear arms and preserve the Second Amendment by full exercise of our other constitutionally-guaranteed rights: free speech, peaceable assembly and a vigorous showing at the voting booth, and we encourage all gun owners to join in those efforts. By the way -- PGP 2.6 is LEGAL to use, unlike earlier v 2.3a. After a while, 2.3a will no longer be compatible with 2.6. So, users should upgrade to 2.6 as soon as possible. John Wallner # ------------------- begin forwarded message --------------------------- Using encryption for E-mail was mentioned at the meeting Tuesday. The latest version of the programed mentioned (PGP23A.ZIP) is PGP26.ZIP. I've uploaded PGP26.ZIP to a BBS, The Dreaming City, in La Mesa. That should be central enough that few people encur toll charges downloading it. The numbers for The Dreaming City are (619)462-8406 and (619)462- 7146. Please pass these around so that people can get the program, set it up, and start using it. # ------------------- end forwarded message ---------------------------
