HELLO EVERYBODY!!

Here is an informational piece on the California Rifle & Pistol Assn. (CRPA),
the same organization who has been nice enough to provide us with the
text of their weekly legislative update over the last month. This is
a shameless plug for this organization. An organization which IMNSHO
is moving to become more visible than in the past. I say that not
because I'm a member, but from conversations that I've had with their
people at their home office in Fullerton, CA. I am encouraging any
California resident (and anyone from out of state also) to join the CRPA.

--------
Enjoy.

*************BEGINNING OF INFORMATIONAL PIECE*******

				WHAT IS THE
		CALIFORNIA RIFLE AND PISTOL ASSOCIATION??

The California Rifle and Pistol Association (CRPA) is the Official
State Association in California for both the National Rifle
Association (NRA) and the Director of Civilian Marksmanship (DCM).

The California Rifle and Pistol Association, founded in 1929 to
promote organized shooting, has progressed far beyond that initial
goal.

Since the founding date, CRPA has grown to a present membership of
over 60,000 men, women and young people from all walks of life.

CRPA is dedicated to the preservation and defense of the Second
Amendment of the Constitution of the United States, which guarantees
the right of possession and use of firearms.

CRPA imparts a better knowledge of the proper use and care of firearms
and each citizen's right to use them.

CRPA provides educational information to the public regarding safe and
proper use of firearms.

CRPA makes Association facilities and personnel available to the
public to help in training in the proper use of firearms and to
encourage more active participation in organized shooting events.

CRPA works with other organizations to insure proper management and
respect for our wildlife and public land resources and to encourage
public education concerning these rapidly diminishing resources.

CRPA sponsors public events that contribute to public awareness of the
proper use of firearms and the spirit of cooperation and discipline
derived from participating in shooting competition.

CRPA actively, through individual committee process, provides
education, training and organized competition in ADULT and JUNIOR
venues (Action Pistol, Air Gun, Gallery, Highpower Rifle, Pistol,
Silhouette Pistol, Silhouette Rifle and Smallbore Rifle).

CRPA sponsors ASSOCIATION teams to compete in National Rifle
Association and National Board of Rifle Practice National
Championships.

CRPA sponsors legislation to guarantee firearms ownership and use,
wildlife preservation and management, and other concerns pertaining to
firearms and hunting in California.

CRPA opposes ALL legislation that infringes upon the citizens' right
to legally use and possess firearms.

CRPA employs and maintains a full-time professional lobbying program
in Sacramento to fulfill legislative obligations to the sportsmen of
California. Our Manager of Governmental Affairs works diligently to
police pending legislation and offer help and advice to all
legislators in the State Capitol.

CRPA publishes and distributes a monthly magazine, THE FIRING LINE.
Through this medium the legislative office in Sacramento keeps CRPA
members up-to-date on happenings in the State Capitol. In addition to
the "Legislative Watch," THE FIRING LINE contains articles of general
interest to members.

CRPA employs a full-time Executive Director and appropriate support
staff in Fullerton, California to manage the day-to-day operations of
the Association.

CRPA relies on membership dues, fund raisers, and donations for its
operating capital.

The legislative program is financed through CRPA membership and
donations to the CRPA Sportsmen's Legislative committee. ALL
donations to the Sportsmen's Legislative Committee (Firearms Freedom
Fund) are used to support pro-gun and hunting legislative issues in
California! NONE of this money is used outside of the state!

The CRPA is more than just an official state "affiliate" of the
National Rifle Association. It is the representative voice of all
sportsmen and all firearms owners of California!
