CLIP AND SAVE!
--------------------
DC:
===
Batman: Dark Knight Gallery. I wouldn't ordinarily mention
a pin-up book, but Dick Sprang's portrait of Bane made me
feel all giddy.

Green Arrow #104 (Dixon & Damaggio). Connor Hawke meets
Kyle Rayner. Figure it out.

Superman/Toyman #1 (K. Kesel & Immonen). One-shot featuring
the first wave of Superman action figures. Cover shows
Supes, Toyman (bald psycho version), Doomsday, & Conduit.

Extreme Justice #12 is by Bob "Static" Washington and Tom
"Iron Man" Morgan.

Lobo vs. Judge Dredd (A. Grant & Semeiks).

Black Canary/Oracle: Birds of Prey (Dixon & G. Frank). One-
shot. New suit for the Canary. Nice, but understated. Com-
pared to Mr. Miracle and Spider-Man (see below), it's ab-
solutely brilliant.

Mister Miracle #1 (Dooley & Crespo). New suit. New 'tude.
New direction. Figure it out.

Green Lantern #70 (Marz & Pelletier). Kyle and Donna break
up. Guest starring SUpergirl and John Stewart.

Joker: Devil's Advocate (Dixon & Nolan). HC GN. The Joker
is finally declared Fit to Stand Trial. Batman must ask
himself if the Joker is innocent of the murders he's being
charged with, or if it matters at all.

Power of Shazam! #11 (Ordway & Krause). Ibis is back.
"Woo-hoo!"
But he's a villain.
"D'oh!"

Showcase '96 #1. Still focusing on Superman-related charac-
ters, this time in team-ups. This issue: Steel/Warrior (Beau
Smith & Cariello), plus Aqualad by Phil Jimenez. Future
issues will feature Superboy/Impulse and Supergirl/Mary Mar-
vel.

Batman: LotDK #79 is by Millar & Yeowell.

What about Max Mercury? Flash #109 refers to a "tragic fate"
and Impulse #10 speaks of "a fatal attack in Max Mercury's
hospital room." Figure it out.

Green Lantern vs. Silver Surfer (Marz & Banks). In the red
corner, Hal Jordan and the Silver Surfer. In the blue corner,
Kyle Rayner and Thanos. Come out swinging.

Pinky & The Brain Christmas Special. Wonder what they're
gonna do tonight.

Seekers is J.M. DeMatteis's creator-owned Vertigo series.
Art rotates; Glen Barr on #1-4, J.J. Muth on 5, Zulli on
6-9. Cynical writer Lucas Hart is on a quest to recover
the lost magic and wonder of life. Sounds rather like the
Mage or Changeling role-playing games.

Static #31 is the first issue by the new creative team.
Written by Adam & Yves, and guest pencilled by Gil Kane.

There's a long running DC tradition that just as a strip
is about to die, you bring in Batman. E.g., Deadman, Man-
hunter, Nemesis, Black Condor, Aquaman (McLaughlin), Chain
Gang War, etc. Batman will soon be guest starring in Black
Lightning. Figure it out.

Hawkman #28 is guest written by former Aquaman writer Shaun
McLaughlin.

Cancelled: Damage (20), Darkstars (38), Judge Dredd (18),

TPBs: Batman: The Last Arkham (SotB 1-4), Superman: The
Eradicator, Starman (0-5),

DRAWN & QUARTERLY:
==================
32 Stories by Adrian Tomine. TPB collecting Optic Nerve
minicomics #1-7.

FANTAGRAPHICS:
==============
Terry Gilliam and Milo Manara are interviewed in Comics
Journal #182.

Acme Novelty Library #6 (Ware). Further adventures of
Jimmy Corrigan.

Rerelease of DARE #1-4, the Grant Morrison-Rian Hughes
postmodern "Dan Dare, Pilot of the Future" story.

THE HERITAGE COLLECTION:
=========================
Shiloh: The Devil's Own Day #1 (Vansant). Civil war drama
from Wayne Vansant.

>From the "it's so stupid it just might work" files:
The new Extreme cross-over is "Extreme Babewatch." An
enemy of Glory's, Diabolique, casts a spell that turns
all the male Extreme heroes into women! Runs through
Glory, Supreme, Knightmare, Prophet, Chapel, NewMen,
Brigade, Bloodstrike, and Youngblood. Eric Stephenson
stresses that "this is not a parody." At least one major
character will remain a woman forever.

Ballistic Imagery #1 (?). Top Cow anthology a la
WildStorms. Strips include Heavy Space, Hell Cop, and True
Tales of CyberForce.

CyberForce Origins #5: Misery (B. Peterson)

Cybernary #1(of 5) (Gerber & Rebner). Former artist
Nick Manabat is said to be very ill.

Shaman's Tears #0 (Grell). Blurb: "...you can't even guess
at this issue's ending, as there will be no issue of
Shaman's Tears the following month!" Figure it out.

Shadowhawks of Legend. One-shot featuring Shadowhawk
through the ages. SH of the Wild West (Beau Smith & Valen-
tino), SH of Feudal Japan (Sakai & Fry), SH the swashbuck-
ler (Senecal & Randall), SH in the Time of the Pharaohs
(A. Moore & Leialoha). Framing story by Busiek & Hotz.

Spawn #38 (McFarlane & Daniel). Ape-X!! King of The Urban
Jungle!! A hearty round of applause to Todd McFarlane for
using apes! We urge all creators to include more apes!

WildC.A.T.s is not solicited.

TPBs: Angela, Dragon: Blood & Guts. Also an Angela poster
by Bill Sienkiewicz.

To be continued...
