Subject: Jack Kirby's Table
Date: Thu, 23 Jun 1994 06:16:56 GMT

From Mark Evanier on CompuServe:

Jack Kirby drew all his comics on an old, grimy drawing table...the same one
since the forties.

Captain America...Black Magic...Young Romance...Boy Commandos...Hulk...New
Gods...Sky Masters...Kamandi...Devil Dinosaur...Fin Fang Foom...Fantastic
Four...they were all drawn on the same drawing board.

He hauled it from residence to residence, even thousands of miles across the
country, long after anyone else would have tossed it and bought another.
It was kind of like an old friend.

Since he passed away earlier this year, the table has been sitting in his
old studio. Those who visit his family at the house have usually paused
long enough to regard the table...pay their respects to it.

But starting soon, they won't be able to see it at the Kirby house. The
table is getting a new home in a few months...

It's going into the Smithsonian in Washington.
