Here is the text of the release. Let me know what you think and make suggestions about potential joint venture partners: publishers, games developers, etc. StrazCom International 1321 W. Birchwood, Suite 206 , Chicago, Illinois 60626 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Len Strazewski Phone: (312) 764-4514 FAX: (312) 764-4514 STRAZCOM INTRODUCES THE NEXT "BIG" THING in comics publishing Detroit, Michigan, March 25 -- A project designed to define the future of the comics industry was announced today by StrazCom president Len Strazewski, noted comics author and business consultant. The project, tentatively named StarQuest, is intended to create a "farm system" for comics talent, serving as a forum for the introduction of quality young creators to comics readers. "Over the past few years, many promising writers and artists have approached me seeking my advice on breaking into the comics industry," Strazewski said at an interview held at the Motor City Comic Con. "Many of these individuals have the talent to make it at the big publishers. However, with the current slump in comic sales, it is often impossible for these creators to find work. "In the current environment, large publishers simply feel they cannot take a chance on unproven talent, no matter how promising. StarQuest will package these individuals' talent in such a way that publishers are virtually guaranteed a profit even in today's depressed sales atmosphere." Strazewski said StarQuest will have the beneficial effect of aiding both the general comics industry and promising young comics creators. "These projects are not intended to be mere "make-work" for young artists," Strazewski said. "StarQuest will help develop the next generation of comics talent by custom-designing projects to take full advantage of the individual talents of each young artist. We will then package these projects in such a way that comics readers will be interested enough to buy." The new imprint will appeal to collectors as well, Strazewski said. "StarQuest gives collectors the opportunity to get the first works from the next wave of highly collectable creators," he said. Strazewski said he is currently in discussions concerning the formation of joint ventures to publish the StarQuest group. Eventually, concepts developed under the StarQuest aegis will be offered to publishers of interactive media as well, he added. Strazewski said he expects to announce specific StarQuest projects at the San Diego comics conference in August. Initial publication of issues is expected in summer, 1995. Len Strazewski is a creator of Malibu Comics' highly regarded "Prime" and "Prototype" characters, and has authored scripts for numerous comics publishers. In his spare time, he also serves as a consultant to various corporations on technology and management issues. He has written a recently published proposal for health care reform and is an expert on computer on-line services.
