Subject: X-Men Danglers FAQ - Part X

Before Part X, one additional comment I'd like to make. While I
welcome all responses as usual (and do my best to reply to them
all), my net access is likely to be highly unreliable for the
next couple of weeks, so don't be surprised if it takes a while
for me to get back in touch with you. At the moment I'm in an
Internet cafe on Cockburn Street, watching the clock tick with
mounting alarm...

The X-Men Danglers FAQ, Part X
==============================
Last updated: 22 December 1995.

Welcome to Hell. The place where bad danglers go to die. This is
where you'll find Danglers that have been deleted from the list since
last time because either I've decreed that they're not really danglers
after all, or they're so comprehensively answered that there's no
point including them any more.

You'll find below a list of the deletions from each post, along with
a brief note of why they've been deleted. If you think I've made the
wrong decision on any of them, mail me at [p--b] at [festival.ed.ac.uk] and
let me know. If I get more than five requests for any one Dangler,
it will be restored on the next edition.

Following the carnage of the last edition, things are a little
quieter here this time. I've still trimmed a few more, though,
and aside from the ones listed here I've combined a few entries
on the main FAQ. (Do we really need three entries for "Why can't
so-and-so see Jubilee?")

PART ONE.

No deletions; minor amendments.

PART TWO.

Whatever happened to the N'Garai?

They went away and bothered some other people instead.

What happened off-panel in Paris?

I've had this one on the list ever since I took over and I've
never had a clue what it referred to. Having finally established
that nobody else knows either, it bites the dust here.

PART THREE.

What happened to Gateway after the Reavers were killed by the
Sentinels?

To the extent that he's now back as a regular character in
Generation X, this is a moot point. As to the specifics,
you'll find that listed in Part Seven, since it was raised
    in Wolverine.

Jean and Xavier's dialogue while scanning Emma Frost's mind in
UX #284.

So Emma isn't brain dead after all. Not exactly a surprise
    to readers today.

How did Mikhail enter the Professor's psionic loop in issue #291?

Because he's very big and powerful. No other significance than
    that, it would appear.

What's all that gunk on Mikhail's face in issue #292?

Gunk. It seems to be connected to his powers, but moreoever
it seems to be utterly insignificant.

Archangel's comment that his wings are derived from Apocalypse's
own cells.

Apparently not significant after all. Not really a dangler,
anyway, just a piece of information.

PART FOUR

When the Soul Skinner looks into Jubilee's mind in issue #19 and
she sees her parents, they don't look like they usually do and they
seem vaguely familiar.

Probably just an art error. Regardless, we've conclusively
established who Jubilee's parents (and foster parents) were
after they appeared in Wolverine #73-74.

PART FIVE.

How did Xavier know Black Eagle?

They're blood brothers, as it states in Marvel Graphic Novel #4.
     Therefore, not a dangler.

The final appearance of Team America in New Mutants #8.

Unfortunately, this wasn't actually their final appearance.
They changed their name to the Thunderiders and went on to
appear in the Thing's title. Yes, the Thing had his own book
once. What do you mean you don't remember it?

Selene tells Dani that she will soon be able to drain life forces
too. Why and how?

Because Selene is an energy vampire; she's going to leech
life force from Dani; and under the normal rules of vampirism
(applied analogously, of course), Dani then becomes an energy
     vampire too. Marvellously simple.

Psylocke's relationship with Doug - petered out, didn't it?

Yup. In other words, it ended, so it ain't dangling.

What happened to the part of Magus's tentacle that Magik teleported
away in New Mutants #50?

     Who cares?

Shouldn't Storm still be White King of the Hellfire Club?

Doubtful. Since she was presumed dead, we can safely assume
that the Hellfire Club no longer regard her as a member.

Why are the Viper and the Silver Samurai dealing in forged statues
of Selene?

Because - as is often forgotten amid the angst, revenge
attacks and gibbering lunacy about Japanese clans - the Viper
and the Silver Samurai are criminals, and criminals commit
     crimes.

Why is Magik trying to rebuild her scrying glass in issue #68? She
used to just call up a scrying pool.

Bad writing. Or, if you want to be charitable, she's losing
control over Limbo and that limits the ways in which she can
     use her magical powers.

PART SIX.

In X-Force #27, Hardaway describes himself as a prototype Biosentry.
You mean there's more?

Not necessarily. Just because there's a prototype of something
doesn't mean it went into full production.
