From: [c--ve--n] at [cae.wisc.edu] (Michael Blakeman Cleveland) Newsgroups: rec.arts.comics.misc Subject: ZERO HOUR SUMMARIES: 1/2: GUY GARDNER: WARRIOR #24 Date: 14 Aug 1994 17:41:46 GMT Guy Gardner: Warrior #24 Minor spoiler review: The first really _directly_ relevant crossover issue because Extant actually appears (although there's no particular reason for him to have come to Coast City). Lots of artists and obscure characters. (And hey, did Abhijit's listing miss Firehair (p. 10, panel 2)?) Mitch Byrd's art has never worked for me, but he does a _great_ perspective drawing of a dinosaur that just makes it look _big_. Phil Jimenez's section is terrific. Porter is pretty good; Parobeck is, well, Parobeck, and even Guice's art is OK. Recommended for even the mildest of Zero Hour completists. Summary w/ spoilers: Something weird is materializing over the former site of Coast City. Guy goes to investigate, bringing along Steel, Supergirl, and Batgirl. They immediately get swept up in a time anomaly and taken to the time of the dinosaurs. They avoid an Extant-inspired dino-stampede and start to face down Extant himself (getting help from Anthro and Java). Steel and Supergirl go to grab him, but he sends all four heroes to the Wild West. Extant there mention that his Team Titans have been destroyed, but he still has all sorts of black-hat cowboy minions. Warrior attacks by growing Toastmasters from his armor, but Extant sends the blasts into other time periods. Practically every western hero DC has ever had (with the notable exception of Jonah Hex) shows up to take care of the cowboys while the super-heroes go after Extant. Extant is attacked by another version of himself, but Extant retaliates, knowing that the 2nd version is a disguised Supergirl. Extant sends all the Western heroes away and then sends the super-heroes away as they make sure that Supergirl is unconscious, but alive. They are now in a combination of two periods. Space Ranger and some aliens are there, but so are a bunch of WW II planes (and Lady Blackhawk). Supergirl recovers and the heroes lay into the aliens. Warrior blasts Extant, angering him into sending the four heroes we started with and Lady Blackhawk to Coast City a few years ago. They see a young Hal Jordan (Green Lantern) flying by. Then they see A young version of Guy sitting on a park bench with his (then)girlfriend Kari Limbo. Guy is about to propose, but the presence of two versions of Guy sends both into convulsions. Warrior loses control of his abilites and uncontrollably produces and fires weapons. GL shows up again to take care of the menace, but is taken away through time (presumably to show up in the 57th century in Zero Hour #4). Guy gets moved through time again, and appears on the ground below the fight between Hank Henshaw and the Eradicator the day Coast City was destroyed. Kari is there and recognizes Guy as the man from the park several years ago. Kari senses that there is no future (and no past). The destruction of Coast City takes place as everything fades to white.
