Zero Hour #2

Non-spoiler review: Mildly recommended.

Summary w/ spoilers:

Scene 1. (12:36 ago) (continues from ZH#3) Extant has just claimed to
either be Waverider or at least have his powers. He sends the JSA and
Waverider back to New York without proving his claims. He begins
assembling his armies (who will be revealed later -- no fair peeking
at the cover.)

Scene 2. (12:34 ago) (continues from ZH#3) The gathered heroes make a
plan to dispose of the future city hovering above New York. Metron
creates a boom tube. Superman, Ray, and Emerald Dragon (Jo Nah) supply energy
to make it bigger, and Captain Atom supplies the gravity to tug the
city into the boom tube. A textbook future city removal. The JSA and
Waverider return to New York with Atom and Hourman dead, Dr. Fate depowered
(split into Kent and Inza Nelson), Wildcat with a heart attack, Sandman
and Dr. Mid-Nite suffering the effects of extreme old age. Starman
announces that he's finished. GL Alan Scott gives up his ring to GL Kyle
Rayner, leaving only one Green Lantern. Flash (Jay Garrick) announces
his retirement. Hawkman acknowledges Carter and Shiera Hall's sacrifices.
(Why is Red Tornado lurking in the background of this scene?)

(Let's try to jam AOS #516 in this 2-hour gap.)

Scene 3. (10:06 ago) Superman, Capt. Atom, Metamorpho, Wonder Woman, Cosmic
Boy, Saturn Girl, Live Wire, Emerald Dragon, Katana, Geo-Force, Mirage, Terra,
and Metron go to the 30th century to stop the time rift there. However,
Extant sends his many brainwashed groups of Team Titans to fight them
(including Battalion, Redwing, and Kilowatt). Mirage and Terra also want
to attack. (One might think that this continues from Team Titans #24, but
it didn't come out here. :( )

4 half-page scenes:

Scene 4. (9:17 ago) Dr. Mist disappears as the wall in the past catches up
to his birth.

Scene 5. (9:12 ago) Alan Scott and Jay Garrick arrive at the hospital. Wildcat
and Sandman should recover, but Dr. Mid-Nite died. Jay goes to recruit the
Spectre.

Scene 6. (8:22 ago) Power Girl's still pregnant, and her baby is still
capable of projecting force shields.

Scene 7. (8:09 ago) Extant soliloquizes to the unconscious Linear Men.

Scene 8. (10:06 ago) Waverider, Green Lantern, Nightwing, Anima, Impulse,
Donna Troy, Superboy, and Ray go back to the distant past to try to close
down the time rift there. They are attacked by Team Titans as well (including
Dagon and Judge or Jury or something (I don't collect Team Titans. Help
would be appreciated here.)) Extant himself shows up as well (although
apparently a past version of himself because another Extant is watching
from Vanishing Point.). GL saves Donna from Extant's blast, but drops
Alan Scott's ring. Waverider sends the heroes back to the present as Extant
absorbs Waverider's energy, fulfilling the cliffhanger of #3. He, too,
vanishes. Someone, probably the mysterious figure from the beginning of ZH4,
picks up Alan's ring.

Scene 9. (8:09 ago) In the 30th century, the heroes have finished off the Team
Titans, holding Mirage and Terra prisoner. Superman throws Metron's Mobius
Chair into the time rift, Captain Atom supplies it with energy, and the rift
closes. (Yay.) The Time Trapper and Rokk Krinn show up and send those who
belong (i.e., not the Legionnaires) back to the 20th century.

Scene 10. (8:08 ago) Batman, Batgirl, Robin, and Warrior are fighting Team
Titans in the present, but then the Team Titans disappear. (Extant is
watching and complains that he's lost control.) Both groups of good guys
show up.

Scene 11. Extant figures that by closing the rift in the future, the heroes
must somehow have closed all the timelines where he is the leader of the
Team Titans. (Extant also absorbs the past version of himself that has
acquired Waverider's powers.)

Scene 12. (7:59 ago) The mysterious figure shows up in the 30th century
(presumably by using Alan's ring), reopens the rift (so that all can happen
as it should) and then crushes Alan's ring.
