Outsiders #11

Minor spoiler review: Occurs wholly before Zero Hour #4, although
time anomalies do play a part in the story. Generally an
entertaining book, but I suspect that #0 would be a better jumping
on point than this would because there is a little too much background
that is helpful in picking up this issue. (This background is provided
in the spoiler section.)

Mildly recommended in general, but certainly not necessary to the main
plot of ZH.

Summary w/ spoilers:

The Outsiders have gone to the underground kingdom, Abyssia, Looker's home,
to find Roderick, the vampire who framed them for murder in issue #1 and
Looker, who Roderick killed in issue 1, and whom the Outsiders think must
therefore be a vampire. 1/2 the team played dead and were captured by
Roderick and Looker. Left alone with the Outsiders, Looker planned to help
them, but she was lying.

The other half the team have been taken to their former allies Dural and
Jonelle, who have allied themselves with their (and the Outsiders') former
foe, Tamira, who shares Looker's powers. Tamira shows the Outsiders
Roderick's blood bank, (Donors only give once.) but she's controlling
Dural and Jonelle, and she's not playing the Outsiders straight either.

Also, a time anomaly arrived last issue, letting everyone, even the bad
guys, see a road not taken.

Now the issue begins:
The Eradicator destroys the bloodbank, while ex-Outsider Atomic Knight tracks
down the team that Looker has in captivity. When the other half of the
team joins them, Roderick (and several vampire-beasties) attack. This
causes a big fight scene.

Looker tries to beguile Geo-Force, but Halo stabs her through the chest.
(The vampire-Looker combination is hard to kill, though.) Roderick attacks
(and apparently infects) Wylde. wylde tosses him to Dervish who blows him
over to the Eradicator. Roderick tries to suck the Eradicator's blood, but
discovers that he's an energy construct. Oops. Technocrat convinces the
Atomic Knight to fight the vampires first and the Outsiders second.

Dural and Jonelle set off Tamira's bomb (now that all her enemies are
collected), but Faust saves everyone. The time anomaly returns, allowing
Atomic Knight to record and transmit proof that of the Outsiders' innocence.
Roderick taunts Looker so that she pushes him into the time anomaly. He
discovers that he's no longer a vampire, and so Geo-Force executes him.
Faust uncovers and executes Tamira.

The Outsiders regroup, but then break up: Wylde confesses that he killed
Dervish's lover, Geo-Force berates Looker for betraying them; Faust,
Wylde, and Technocrat fight over Halo's new body. Katana and Eradicator
fight over contrasting leadership styles. Hmm, makes that next issue
blurb problematic, doesn't it?

Katana and Geo-Force can be followed into ZH #4.
