Subject: international comic anthologies listing

G'day folks!

I'm hoping this isn't too long of a post for this list. I've tried to paste
together a listing of international comic anthologies that I know of (or
have at least heard of)
International Comic Anthologies. It's a list I've included in my own small
press comic anthology Sunburn (it's a comic zine from Canada), so if
there's anything you think I should have included on this list please let
me know. I know I posted the question a month or so ago, and I greatly
appreciated those who responded. This list is merely what I am aware of,
and I know I've probably missed out on a great many.

Cheers! Karl Thomsen...

Internet
The internet offers up a very unique comic reading experience. Of
special interest to fans of comic anthologies are the two sites I've listed
below. They are free, open 24 hours, and are an excellent place to sample
work by talented comic book artists from around the world. Happy surfing!

ism comics - the online comics
Web: http://ism.opal.de/
Editor: Kate Blakstad-Cooke
Last updated: February 1997
Email: [p--g--n] at [gits.co.uk] or [s t rangefish] at [hotmail.com]
"Ism Comics is an online anthology of some of the very best
independent, small press and mini comics from around the world. There are
already around 200 pages of the very best smaller press comics here for you
to read. There are 17 creators online, with more to come very soon. You'll
find more than sample artwork and story teasers here. Ism is made up of
complete comics-everything from 4 panel strips to 40 page stories.
The majority of the work in this site from the UK and North
America, although we hope to include work from all over the world. Ism is
not restricted to a single style or voice, but supports diversity of art,
writing and ideas."
[Although this site has been neglected for a while now, there may
be more to come. Regardless, this excellent web site offers up a healthy
selection of North American and European artists. It's a great place to
spend some time and check out some very talented cartoonists!]

orbs and luminous asterisks and dazzling nebulosities:
comics * manga * sequential art * gags * drawn books * strips * SPIN COMICS
* bd * & more visual miscellanea from around the world.
Comic Galaxy will be showcasing talent from all over the world,
artists and comic creators from over fifteen countries whose work spans
innumerable genres and whose bewitching ideas burst forth from the
independent, alternative, underground and experimental wellsprings of those
countries."
[This web site features information and comics/artwork by
approximately 200 artists from around the world (literally!). Although I
couldn't figure out the full story behind the site (the site is apparently
still under construction), it does look like the people behind it are also
small press comic book publishers. Overall, it was an excellent site to
check out a very diverse range of comic talent from around the world. Check
it out!]
