The Bad Girl Art (BGA) Report for Diamond Previews: April 1996
Once again, a listing of those parts of Previews you'll wanna rip out
before letting anyone else in your family see it.
See below for an explanation of the BGA Index. And keep in mind that
something can have a high BGA Index without actually being "bad girl" art,
since BGA is more than just naked women (but not much more).
PREMIER COMICS
ACCLAIM:
None to speak of.
DARK HORSE:
None to speak of.
DC:
None to speak of.
IMAGE:
Celestine/Lady Supreme ad: Big hair, bikini top with numerous holes in
it, wasp waists, etc. Index = 8
Medieval Spawn/Witchblade series ad: Woman with huge breasts falling
out of an armored bikini. Index = 9
Witchblade ad: Witchblade, naked, curled up with some cloth.
Index = 14
Gen 13 ad: Fairchild in tattered leather bikini, erect nipples.
Index = 6
Swimsuit art trading cards ad: 9 different bad girls mostly in skimpy
swimsuits, lots of butt-cam. Index = 16
ESSENTIAL SECTION
ANTARCTIC
Taboux ad: Big-haired woman with skimpy bikini bottom and no top,
B&W photo ad, blood-sucking involved. Index = 14
BIG ENTERTAINMENT
Multiple images of Messalina, BIG's leather-clad dominatrix. Overall
index = 9
BROADWAY
Fatale, full page ad, huge breasts falling out of top. Index = 6
(same ad as last month)
CHAOS COMICS
The typical Lady Death nonsense. Huge breasts, big hair, erect
nipples, lots of death images, etc. Index = 12
Purgatori ads: Less stacked than Lady Death, but dripping with
blood and pouring blood from a cup onto a submissive female below while
another female licks her spread thighs. This one's a real winner, eh?
Index = 20, plus a bonus 5 points for the licking bit = 25
LONDON NIGHT
Multiple ads across a two-page spread, including the half-dressed
Tommi Gunn from last issue (I sincerely hope that's a printing blotch and
not a nipple visible on her breast), Tour of Torture with another model in
the spread-em pose, a major butt-cam with lovingly-drawn crotch, etc.
Index = (geez, lemme get a calculator here) 23 if I just add up the points,
18 if I take the worst individual score and add 7 for the extra ads.
MAXIMUM
Darkchylde ad: Naked save for some stringy tatters, demonic parts
and blood, big hair. Index = 17
SIRIUS
Dolls ad: female mannequin naked, breasts barely covered, crotch
not covered at all (but smooth). Index = 15
Demongate ad: woman being held down and chained to a table for
an injection, wearing tattered underwear. Index = 5
SELECT SECTION
BONEYARD PRESS
Half page ad for Crime Pays: Butt-cam of woman in leather-strapped
bikini on a motorcycle wiht a gun, breasts pendulously draped over the
gas tank. Index = 8, but looks more offensive than that number suggests
GROUND ZERO
Widow ad: Claws, pierced navel, barely-covered breasts, thong bottom,
big hair. Index = 10
HIGH IMPACT
Apparently didn't have the cash for another full page ad. Thankfully.
I hereby declare Chaos Comics the winner for this month. They may not
have had the biggest nasty ad, but they had the nastiest. And now for the
current BGA Index.
The Bad Girl Art (BGA) Index v0.1:
This is an attempt to quantify the degree of offense given by "Bad Girl
Art" as presented to general audiences in solicitation material, such as
Diamond's Previews magazine.
Any depiction of the female form in a solicitation is fair game for
assigning a BGA Index, but the threshhold that must be passed in order to be
truly considered BGA has not yet been determined, although 5 seems like a lower
bound. Every depiction starts at 0 points, then adds points based on the
Format, Pose, Body Type, Clothes Type and Clothes Coverage of the female shown.
FORMAT: Style of ad
+1 per full page (if the ad is several pages but the female appears on
only one of them, only count that page)
+1 if in color
+1 for photographic art
+1 per extra ad on the page, base score on highest individual ad
(for cases where a company puts several ads on one page, to
avoid inflated scores)
POSE: Positioning of the female
+1 if the pose is anatomically impossible or severely painful
+1 if the woman is being struck
+1 for bondage situations
+2 for a gratuitous butt shot
+3 for a spread-legs crotch shot
BODY: The physical attributes of the female
+1 for breasts larger than her head
+1 for breasts larger than waist (cumulative)
+1 for erect nipples shown
+1 for thigh wider than waist
+1 for thigh longer than total torso plus head height
+1 for Big Hair (hair larger than torso)
+1 per inhuman or demonic part (such as claws, fangs, etc)
+1 for facial expression indicating sexual themes (seductive,
rapturous, etc)
+2 additional for expression indicating subject is in the throes of
orgasm
CLOTHES TYPE: What the female is wearing
+0 for skintight bodysuit
+1 for swimsuit
+1 for lingerie
+1 for leather (cumulative with above)
+1 if torn or tattered (cumulative with above)
+1 if adorned with spikes or blades (cumulative with above)
+1 for spiked heels
+1 per weapon
+1 per fluid type covering subject (includes but is not limited to
blood, sweat, tears, regular water)
CLOTHES COVERAGE: How well the clothing covers the "naughty bits" of the
female. This is clothing coverage only, and doesn't count strategic
limb placement or black bars. It's the thought that counts.
The following are cumulative (i.e. if less than 1/4 of the breast is covered,
then points are given for 1/4 and 1/2).
+1 if less than half of each breast is covered
+1 if less than 1/4 of each breast is covered
+2 if breasts totally bare (so +4 total)
+1 if enough of crotch is uncovered to require shaving
+2 if outline of genitalia is drawn
+5 if crotch is totally bare
The following points are not cumulative with the above.
+10 if subject is totally naked (except for shoes, gloves and jewelry)
