Negative Space: political
- Being There
-
Peter Sellers’ last and in my opinion best work, based on the story by Jerzy Kosinski (and with a screenplay written by him). This is a quietly funny, provocative, and touching film about “down to earth” philosophies.
- Bulworth
- Senator Jay Billington Bulworth suffers a nervous breakdown and falls in love with Halle Berry. I don’t think you need psychological problems for that. He also decides to start being honest during his campaign speeches, and that’s where the fun starts.
- Losing America
- If someone were to tell you they were reading a book subtitled “Confronting a reckless and arrogant presidency” you’d probably think it was written by a right-winger, rather than a short-sighted beltway insider who can’t see out of the beltway box to save his own reputation.
- Taking Heat
-
This is a very interesting look at the biases of the top echelons of the media, from a pre-2008 perspective.
- Wag the Dog
- The president is accused of molesting a child. The president’s guilt or innocence doesn’t matter. What matters is the election in eleven days.
