Negative Space: cell phones
- 1,000 songs is enough for anybody
- Ed Zander of Motorola feels that 99 songs are enough for anybody?
- Another reason to ban cell phones from schools
- Scales Elementary in Murfreesboro has another reason to ban cell phones: kids might be able to call their parents when they’re about to die. That would put teachers in danger during mass murder drills.
- Apple’s new Music Store ringtone policy
- I had started to consider purchasing digital downloads instead of CDs, but because download restrictions change too easily CDs remain a far better choice for me.
- Cell phone neo-McCarthyism
- It’s 1976 all over again at Framingham High in Framingham, Massachusetts. “Neo-McCarthyism. I like that.”
- Cell phones: threat to public safety
- Cell phones are a part of the decentralization of our society; they are a severe threat to those who prefer centralization and restricted channels of access.
- Command-line terminal for iPhone!
-
Using the iPhone as an SSH client?
- iPhone development another FairPlay squeeze play?
- Why no iPhone-only applications? Is it short-sightedness on Apple’s part, or are they trying to encourage something big?
- Joe Bob Briggs covers cell phone hatred
- I somehow missed this Briggs article when I wrote my own cell phone hatred article. He covers most of the bases, including banning cell phones even if they’re silent. “We love our own cell phones but we hate everyone else’s.”
- Miracle and Wonder: The Pioneer 3200/3300BT
-
“These are the days of miracle and wonder. This is a long-distance call.” I’ve been using the Pioneer 3200BT bluetooth-enabled stereo in my car for a year now. It really is amazing what we can do nowadays.
- The Ringtone Racket
- John Gruber adds his 99 cents to the iTunes ringtone debate, and comes to the same conclusion: Apple is losing its battle for the hearts and minds of consumers. It might make more money in the short-term, but it faces a significant chance of becoming just another company in the long-term.
- Rip, Mix, Pay
- Apple has saved me $400. I’ll be renewing my Sprint contract for a year when it expires next month.
- Scripting your iPhone
- Will scripting your iPhone be disallowed? Why?
- Sprint wants me to buy an iPhone
- It shouldn’t be easier to switch to a new carrier than it is to get information from your current carrier.
- Stephen Fry on iPhone killers
- “You’re only on this planet once—do something extraordinary, imaginative and inspiring. That’s the difference, ultimately.”
- We have met the enemy, and he is our carrier
- If you want a phone that works as well as your Macintosh, you need a network that works as well as the Internet.
- What could make me buy an iPhone?
-
Apple is hitting almost all the right buttons to get me to buy one. All they’re missing is letting me listen to my music the way I want to listen to it.

- Pioneer AVH-P3300BT•
-
The AVH-P3300BT is the successor to the very nice AVH-P3200BT. It appears to be exactly the same, with the addition of Pandora support. Likely there are some software and interface tweaks, too.
