Food recipes and reviews
This is pretty much becoming a full-fledged blog, unless you can count recipes for pesto salad and California tabouleh as “liberal editorial content”.
Well, maybe you can.
The new “Food” section will include reviews of restaurants I happen to run across (thus, mostly San Diego and a few in Los Angeles), cookbooks, other food-related books, and recipes I’ve found useful. Most of the recipes I’ve made up myself on Jerry’s Diner will be moved here; a few may not make the cut.
Inaugural articles include a recipe for the Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster, the aforementioned pesto and pesto salad, and a yogurt-lemon chicken salad. There’s more on the way, as I’ve been building up quite a few good recipes since letting Jerry’s Diner fall behind.
Review dates for cookbooks and restaurants are not always reliable, as the old review pages did not record this information.
- Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster
- We had a last-minute bathrobe party on Towel Day in 2001 in honor of Douglas Adams, and before leaving I dug deep into our racial memory to reconstruct the true Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster. That is, I browsed the web about five minutes before leaving for Trader Joe’s.
