What next for the CIA?
People are beginning to talk about what the CIA had in mind when they sent Wilson, sans confidentiality agreement, to Niger. I’m adding this note to keep track of some of this commentary and add them to the end of my CIA Victory article.
In response to Who controls discussion of CIA activities?: When the CIA wins the battle of defining who can and cannot be talked about, there may be a partisan victory in the short run, but in the long run we all lose.
- Who's Minding The CIA?
- “It’s increasingly difficult to conclude that the CIA was doing anything other than manufacturing cover for their own terrible performance, and perhaps taking steps, much like Hoover’s FBI was once wont to do, to ensure that it wasn’t going to be held accountable to the full measure that it should have been for what appears to be poor performance over some number of years.”
- The Myth Of Dragging Wilson's Wife Into The Niger Case
- “Plame didn’t get dragged into this controversy--she initiated the entire event by getting her husband a job to investigate the Niger data, based on the CIA’s curiousity about the British intelligence on the subject.”
- How Covert Was Valerie Plame (III)?
- “If the CIA prepared a formal report, it would be subpoenaed as evidence, and the jury would laugh out loud at the ‘no damage’ assessment.”
- But Why Was The Buffoon Wilson Sent?
- “The Left used to be upset when the CIA tried to destabilize governments.”
(Incidentally, using the word “buffoon” in a headline doesn’t sound any better no matter whose “side” you’re on.)
