ThreadSome questions.
If you spend all day hunched over a desk drawing it's important that you
are as comfortable as possible (and not too hunched). That's why drafting
tables (and drawing boards for those on the go and those on a budget) have
adjustable angles.
If you are worried about smudging, do a rough sketch of your image
lightly and then pencil in the detail from left to right (since you are
right-handed). Or get a good eraser. And wash your filthy hands before you
draw so that the oils in your hands don't contribute to the smudging.
If you are worried about a skewed perspective (that's the kinda
perspective I have towards life but I don't want my drawing to have them)
sit back and look at your picture from more off a distance. Things are bound
to be skewed if you only look at it close up. Also you may want to
periodically pick up your drawing and hold it at a distance or perhaps even
hold it up to a mirror so you get a better idea of how a distant observer
may view it.
And, after you are done hunching over your desk, stretch! Go out for a
walk, even!
Anywawy,
hope that helps kid.
